LYON are on the board at Worlds. Neither side had a result at the event before this Swiss best-of-one on October 24, and LYON made their first one count, beating Team Secret Whales in 26 minutes and 50 seconds.

The margin is clear in the end-of-game totals. LYON finished with 22 kills to TSW's six and an advantage of more than 11,000 gold (57,600 to 46,262), along with four dragons to two and the game's only Baron. It was a short game and, by the numbers, rarely a close one.

Dhokla's big night

The headline line belongs to Dhokla. LYON's top laner went 13/1/5 on K'Sante, a kill tally you would more usually expect from a carry, and he was involved in 82% of his team's kills. Pun had a rougher time across the map, finishing 0/5 on Rumble, although his 19,921 damage was still the highest on his team.

Berserker did his share as well. The Ezreal posted 26,125 damage, the highest in the game, and took part in 95% of LYON's kills with a 3/2/18 line. Saint went deathless on Anivia at 2/0/11, while Inspired's Nocturne added 11 assists. Each member of the LYON roster finished with a positive KDA.

Little to build on for TSW

For TSW, the bright spot was Hizto. The Lee Sin went 4/2/1 and was involved in five of his team's six kills, and Dire's Ryze also had a hand in 83% of them. With only six kills in total, though, there was not much for anyone to share. Bie absorbed seven deaths on Nautilus, and Eddie's Kai'Sa, TSW's best-funded player at 12,099 gold, finished without a kill.

The loss does not knock TSW out. The Swiss format leaves room to recover, but the next result matters for a side that needs to show more firepower than it did here. LYON, meanwhile, start with a win and wait to learn who they face next, with an opponent yet to be confirmed. Whether Dhokla's form carries into that matchup is the obvious question.
