Anyone's Legend have taken the series. They beat LGD GAMING 3–1 in a best-of-five in the LPL Playoffs on September 4, recovering from a heavy loss in the opener to win the next three games in a row.
That first game gave little hint of what followed. LGD won it 15–6 on kills in under 25 minutes and finished with seven towers to AL's one. Shaoye's Sivir went 5/0/7 and dealt more than 20,000 damage, and LGD looked comfortable. AL seemingly needed one game to settle in.
Hope keeps AL's backline standing
Across the three wins, AL leaned heavily on their bot lane. Hope died five times in the whole series and went deathless in two of the games, on Lucian and Corki. He finished the four games 13/5/21 and topped AL's gold count in every one of them, which says a lot about how much of the team's resources went through him and how well he used them.
Tarzan was the other constant. The jungler went deathless in both of his Nocturne and Qiyana wins, and his Maokai put out 32,137 damage in the third game, the highest single-game total of anyone in the series. Kael, for his part, took part in every one of AL's kills in that game.
LGD's answer didn't last
LGD's best shot at extending the series was arguably that third game. They won the kill count 18–14 over nearly 45 minutes, but AL ended with five dragons to one, the only Baron, and a gold edge of close to 4,800. Kills alone weren't enough for LGD.
The other two losses were far less close. In the second game, LGD managed two kills and no towers in more than 41 minutes, and Tangyuan's Viktor ended with 0% kill participation. The fourth game was over in 26:32, with AL taking nine towers to LGD's one.
For LGD, the opener showed what this roster can do when Shaoye gets going. The trouble was everything after it: the ADC died eight times in the three losses after not dying at all in the first game. AL will take a three-game winning run and a bot lane that rarely gave anything away into whatever comes next in these playoffs, and on this evidence, opponents will have to find a way to get to Hope.
