LYON took care of business. They swept Dignitas 2-0 in their Week 3 LCS best-of-three on August 9, and by the end there was little doubt about which side had the sharper series.
The scoreline flatters neither side's opener, though. The first game finished level at seven kills apiece, and DIG were arguably closer than the 2-0 suggests at that point. But LYON turned an even fight count into a 7-3 tower advantage, the lone Baron and a gold lead of roughly 3,000 in just over 28 minutes. That conversion gap is where the series was won.
Berserker sets the tone
If one name stands out, it's Berserker. The ADC went 3/0/0 on Ezreal and then 8/0/4 on Lucian, finishing the series without a single death and topping his team's damage charts in both games. On a night when DIG were struggling to find kills at all, they never managed to put him down.
Around him, LYON's supporting cast did their part. Saint was steady on Ryze before a 4/2/12 Lissandra, while Armao's Wukong posted 5/0/10. Isles, a Camille support in the opener, switched to Milio and finished the second game 0/0/18 with a hand in every one of his team's kills.
A rough night for DIG
The second game was a different story altogether. It lasted 22:16, LYON won the kill count 18-3, and DIG didn't take a single tower against LYON's ten. The gold gap at the end stood at around 15,000, which is about as one-sided as a professional game gets.
There were bright spots, if few. Palafox went 4/1/1 on Orianna in the opener and led DIG in damage, and Dardoch had a hand in every one of his team's kills across both games. Still, with so few of those kills to go around, that involvement only says so much. Denathor and IgNar combined for zero kills and eleven deaths over the series.
The question for DIG is whether they can build on an opener that, by the kill count at least, looked competitive, rather than the game that followed it. For LYON, a clean 2-0 with their carry untouched is the kind of result that lets them head into the rest of the split with real confidence.
