Movistar KOI have the series. They beat Fnatic 2-1 in LEC Week 2, taking two of three games in a best-of-three where both sides kept the same sides throughout, MKOI on blue and FNC on red.
All three games finished between 30 and 33 minutes, but the margins varied. In MKOI's two wins they outkilled FNC 46-26 combined and took 18 towers to FNC's 7. FNC's lone win was just as convincing in the other direction, a 21-12 kill count and a 4-1 dragon split.
Jojopyun and Elyoya set the tone
The clearest individual story belongs to Jojopyun. He went 10/1/7 on Cassiopeia in the opener and dealt 29,987 damage, the highest figure on either side in that game, and he finished the series with 20 kills against just five deaths. Few mid laners will get through a three-game series against FNC with numbers that tidy.
Elyoya arguably matched him. His 3/1/18 line on Pantheon came with 91% kill participation in game one, and in the decider his Xin Zhao went 8/2/10 with 26,333 damage, more than anyone else in that game. Alvaro's 18 assists on Seraphine in the same game round out a picture of a team that fought together. MKOI also took all four dragons in game one, giving FNC nothing to work with on that front.
FNC's bright spot fades
FNC did answer. Their game-two win was built around Upset, whose 7/2/9 on Xayah came with 26,470 damage, and Razork's 76% kill participation on Trundle. The bot side looked like FNC's engine for most of the series: Upset led his team in damage in all three games.
The decider, though, was a different story. FNC managed only two towers and trailed by more than 10,000 gold, with Soboro and Lospa each involved in just 36% of their team's kills. Razork's six deaths on Jarvan IV were the most on either side in that game.
For MKOI, a series win in Week 2 is a welcome result. For FNC, the open question is how to turn the version of the team that showed up in game two into something they can carry through a full series, and whether the answers lie with the top and support players who were quieter in the decisive game.
