Gen.G Esports needed only three games to get past LYON in the Worlds Quarterfinals, sweeping the best-of-five 3-0. Playing on the blue side in every game, the Korean squad won the combined kill count 57-24, destroyed 30 towers to LYON's 6 and claimed all four Barons taken in the series.
Game 1 ran 32:13 and ended with Gen.G ahead 19-8 in kills, 11-3 in towers and 4-1 in dragons, plus both Barons and a gold lead of nearly 13,000. Game 2 was the shortest of the set at 26:32. LYON matched them two dragons apiece, but Gen.G posted a 22-6 kill score, a 10-2 tower count and another gold edge of almost 13,000. Game 3 was LYON's most competitive showing: they won the dragon count 3-2 and held Gen.G to a 16-10 kill margin. Gen.G still finished the 33:29 game with a 9-1 tower lead, the lone Baron and close to 11,000 more gold.
Ruler was a model of efficiency in the bot lane, going 15/3/21 across the series. That included a 3/0/7 Jhin in Game 1 and an 8/1/8 Ashe in Game 2, and he closed out with a 365-CS Xayah in Game 3. Chovy dealt 68,021 damage over the three games and finished 15/5/23, peaking with a 7/2/5 Taliyah that put out 25,922 damage.
Kiin also stood out, dying just twice in three games for an 11/2/24 line. He opened with a 6/1/7 Olaf and capped the series with an Aurora that recorded 29,210 damage, the highest single-game total of the set. Canyon added a 3/3/14 Jarvan IV with 77% kill participation in Game 2.
For LYON, Berserker led everyone in Game 1 with 26,179 damage on Ezreal, and Dhokla's Gangplank put up 23,196 in Game 3. Neither total was enough to take a game off Gen.G.
