BNK FEARX found an answer. After being run over in the opener of their LCK Week 12 series, BFX won the next two games to beat KIWOOM DRX 2–1 on August 13, turning what looked like a straightforward KRX afternoon into a series they never got back.
The first game was about as one-sided as a professional match gets. KRX closed it out in 27:24 with a 23–6 kill count and ten towers to BFX's two, and Aiming finished his Caitlyn game at 8/0/5. Ucal added a 7/1/7 Ryze, while VicLa's Syndra ended at 1/6/3. Based on that game alone, there was little to suggest a turnaround was coming.
VicLa and Kellin flip the script
It came anyway, and just as decisively. BFX took the second game with a 24–4 kill score and roughly a 15,000 gold lead. VicLa, so quiet in the opener, finished his Lissandra game at 11/1/9, and Raptor's Lee Sin was involved in 83% of his team's kills. Kellin's Lulu ended the game without a single death and with 21 assists. On the other side, nobody on KRX finished with more than three kills, and Willer's Nocturne ended at 0/6/4.
The decider was closer on the map but not on the scoreboard. KRX actually ended the game with more towers, nine to seven, yet BFX won the kill count 17–7 and finished with a gold lead of more than 13,000. Taeyoon was the standout on Kai'Sa at 7/1/7, giving him just two deaths across the final two games. Raptor's Naafiri went deathless at 3/0/7, and Clear's Vayne pick in the top lane yielded a 4/2/4 line.
Questions for KRX
For KRX, the series raises an awkward question: how does a team that looked that sharp in the opener manage just eleven kills across the following two games combined? Ucal, the best player on the server in game one, finished the last two at a combined 1/6/6, and Andil did not record a kill in the series. The talent was clearly on display early. The consistency, seemingly, was not.
BFX, meanwhile, will take real encouragement from how they responded. Being flattened in an opener and then winning two games by double-digit kill margins speaks to a team that adjusted quickly, with Taeyoon and VicLa doing the damage. Whether they can carry that form into the rest of the LCK season is the next thing to find out.
